Non-urgent advice: To make an appointment
The Practice operates an appointment system.
Appointments may be made by telephoning 01293 592230. We aim to offer same day appointments, although you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP.
All appointment requests are triaged by the Receptionists. In many cases telephone advice or an appointment with the Nurse will be more appropriate.
Appointments are available to see a Doctor both in the morning and in the afternoon.
Non-urgent advice: FOR EMERGENCIES
There is always an on-call doctor on duty. If you feel you need to be seen urgently you may find the receptionist asks for your telephone number for the on-call doctor or practice nurse to call you back. This is to establish the nature of your problem and whether you need telephone advice, a surgery appointment or a home visit.
Non-urgent advice: Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. The telephone lines are open at the surgery from 8am for cancellations. You will also then be able to re-book your appointment at a time that is convenient to you.
If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
Using the NHS App
What the NHS app can be used for
- get advice about coronavirus – get information about coronavirus and find out what to do if you think you have it.
- order repeat prescriptions – see your available medicines, request a new repeat prescription and choose a pharmacy for your prescriptions to be sent to.
- book appointments – search for, book and cancel appointments at your GP surgery, and see details of your upcoming and past appointments.
- check your symptoms – search trusted NHS information and advice on hundreds of conditions and treatments, and get instant advice or medical help near you.
- register your organ donation decision – choose to donate some or all of your organs and check your registered decision.
- find out how the NHS uses your data – choose if data from your health records is shared for research and planning.
- view parts of your GP record – including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results.
Extended Access
We have extended access appointments in collaboration with our PCN (primary care network). This service is available to all patients here at Bewbush and those patients within our primary care network which include Coachmans, Gossops Green medical centre and Saxonbrook.
The clinics are held weekly across the practices outside of the practice core hours to provide additional capacity. These appointments are available for pre-booking subject to availability.
Monday: Saxonbrook Medical 16:00 – 20:00
Tuesday – Thursday: Bewbush Medical Centre 16:00 – 20:00
Friday: Saxonbrook Medical 16:00 – 20:00
Saturday: Coachmans 09:00 – 17:00
This is subject to change. If we can’t host, another practice will or it will be a remote service.
Telephone Advice
If you wish to speak to a doctor you can book a telephone consultation.
These are for medication queries, reviews, discussion of test results and dealing with problems which do not need a face to face consultation.
If you feel your query can be dealt with on the telephone please ask to be booked in for one of these.
Home Visits
Our Doctors typically see four patients in the Practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit. For this reason, we ask our patients to come to the Practice if at all possible.
If you feel your condition needs a home visit and you really cannot attend the Practice, please telephone before 10.30, unless it is an emergency.
Chaperones
Sometimes it is helpful to both the patient and the doctor to have another person in the room during a physical examination. Please understand that you may ask for a chaperone to be present and the doctor will not be offended. The doctor themselves may also request another person to be present.
